About Me & My Journey

My passion for photography began just after high school. I found the real drive for photography came from the ability to capture nature; beautiful sunsets, trophy sized deer and meandering meadows.

Part of my the passion comes from capturing a moment in time, but it turns into long lasting enjoyment when I print it, and print it big! I love having my nature shots hanging on my wall at home.

Time spent in nature cannot be rivaled with many other activities, God has given us such a beautiful world. There are times, places and experiences that just have to be etched on paper, canvas, metal or even acrylic!

As I have worked to improve my art and become better at what I create, I’ve realized that I should share that joy and excitement with others. It starts with my website and social media, but that is fleeting and easily hidden in a pocket.

A print hanging on the wall allows one to relive that moment in time… over and over again. Photographs retain memories and our memories bring us happiness. Those good memories override times of challenges and help us through the low points in life.

If one of my images makes you happy, reach out to me. I’ll help you decide where it will look best in your home. Do you want it large as life like I do, or just right for that intimate spot on your wall?

Finding my creative side

I discovered that I loved art when I was around 6 or 7 years old and drew consistantly through Junior High school. I loved drawing about nature, horses, cowboys and motorized toys.

College Days... A Whole New World

I discovered photography in high school. I was Deer hunting and had my mom’s Kodak 110 instamatic camera in my pocket. The purpose of the camera was to take a picture of my trophy buck when I shot it with my bow! Not long into the hunt, I saw a chipmunk and felt the need to take a picture. I was surprised at the adrenaline I felt with the challenge of capturing that chipmunk in action.

Just before graduating from High School I got my first camera for Christmas! It was a Ricoh XR-2s SLR, complete with manual frame advance and a manual focus 50mm F1.8 Fujinon lens.

I saved money from my summer job and bought a “Winder” which gave me auto frame advance at 3 fps. Then I bought a 70mm – 210mm zoom lens (still manual focus) so I could capture wildlife. Eventually I bought a 2x tele converter (Doubler) and a Macro lens.

I enrolled in photography classes in college and shot that camera until it was second nature.

Finally Capturing Nature

I worked hard trying to develop (no pun intended) my skills out in Nature with my Ricoh SLR. Low light conditions were most challenging. Of course, that is when the best shots are present. I did a lot of Black and White & darkroom work in those early days.

As much as I loved nature, most of my camera time was spent photographing weddings, events and eventually product photography.

During the busy years of raising a family, my camera spent a lot of time on the shelf. We have fast forwarded a lot of years to capture the images you see in the gallaries on this website.

Four point Buck captured with my Richoh SLR, 400mm lens and 2x Teleconverter at dusk. I was most likely shooting ASA 400 film.

This shot was my prized pocession! I shot this at the end of a duck hunt. It was the first image that I captured that I could call a real work of art. It won a ribbon at my college art show.

I was shooting Black and White for my photography class. This silhouetted coyote was captured at twilight just before the sun came up. I was across the ravine with my Ricoh SLR, 400mm + doubler. (Pan X ASA 400 Film)

I photograph all of the Temples I visit, Interested?
